I considered many of the exotic woods, some quite limited. I was concerned that on a narrow, vertical stick, the beauty of the wood grain would not be that apparent. Well, Mr Sam (as I call him) sent me photos of the two Cocobolo sticks he had, and I chose one. Understand that for me/us (my husband actually covered the payment of this), it was no small purchase.

I am older, around 5 ft tall, and had never used a hame for a cane top. Also, I wanted the cane to stand freely at times, as during a church service. I did not have the luxury for too many add-on options, trying to keep the cost down. Actually, I am very glad I did not add much, as the simple beauty of the wood, set off by the brass hame, is very striking. The cane is BEAUTIFUL. My husband asked if I would will it to him, should I die first. He said it really is "elegant", and was really impressed by the weight of the wood itself. He said the post office damage to the carton was likely a "sneeze" to the wood beneath, left exposed by the damaged carton.

The cane was trimmed to size for me, which my husband did in increments, since the hand-hold for a hame is different that that atop an ordinary cane. At least for now, I wanted to try the tripod tip, with the longer part pointing backward. It's very walk-friendly while giving full upright support to the cane when not in use.

I really like the balanced heft of this wood--it's not just a support, but a presence of sort, strange as that may sound. This product is 5 stars and more--the product, quality, service, and integrity of the man behind it all. This will be used and cherished for the remainder of my life.

It's gorgeous, and has already saved me from a fall. I'm not even used to using it yet, but I planted it when I lost my balance, and lovely thing it is, it caught me. Even with my fingers not being dependable, the ball fit my palm comfortably and safely.

It is very sturdy, and absolutely beautiful. It held my weight easily, and is quite stylish. Doesn't make me feel like an old lady at all. This is my first cane. I had tested several that either felt flimsy and unstable, or something that I could not accept as fashionable. I'm only 60, and refuse to be seen as old and infirmed. My new StepinStik does that.

I just recently purchased a Lady Bubba walking stick. I have cancer of the spine and it has helped take the pressure off. Most of all are the comments I receive. People love the look of it. Lots of smiles and questions. I tell everyone about you and with all the doctor visits I see many. Also you sent a pen, it is my special log pen for my medications I keep it with my book to register so I dont forget to keep tab of what I take. By the by; do you make wood pens?

My stick arrived a day ahead of the original date the post office projected and I have to say that I really felt like a child at Christmas when I was opening the shipping tube! The stick was packaged very good and arrived in pristine condition, it is absolutely beautiful. The fit and finish are par none! If you're on the fence and thinking it's too expensive, stop it. It's American made. The quality of materials used to fabricate the stick are top notch. CUSTOMER SERVICE --- delivered fast; packaging was first class, the cardboard tube great for protecting the product, resulting in no structural damage or even the faintest cosmetic blemish. my initial inquiries and all questions and requests answered swiftly and accurately, giving me peace-of-mind that i was going to get EXACTLY what i wanted.

PRODUCT REVIEW --- my 22-1/2" OSAGE ORANGE THUMPER was just GORGEOUS!!! dabbling in woodworking myself (purely on an amateur level, hahaha), i picked OSAGE ORANGE not only for it's high load-bearing capacity, but also for it's toughness and resistance to rot, cracking, and warping. the solid brass hame fit my hand just so, not being too large for prolonged use, nor too small to dig into the center of my palm. mind you, though, that THIS IS A THUMPER, NOT A REGULAR-SIZED CANE, but i actually use this as a stair-assist tool to help me climbing stairs because of a bad hip. to use a regular cane would mean that i had to reach higher to pull myself up, meaning more hip-rotation. however, since i feel fine doing flatwork like walking/exercising, it's an added bonus as a deterrent for the occasional mean dog without a leash, or (god forbid!) two-legged miscreants, hahaha!!! the weight is just enough to make you aware that there IS bit of heft, which for me is an assurance that should occasions arise of a threatening nature, i am not alone with just a wish to have something substantial to turn to if needed.

DID I NEED TO BUY THIS? my wife said no. DO I NEED THIS? again the wife said no. DID I WANT THIS? i told my wife yes. i explained to her that there ARE times that a guy sees something that he just has to have. when i held the thumper for the first time, i realized that this was not the regular trash you see in mail-order catalogs all over the internet. by the very nature of the availability for customization, this is an ARTISANAL product, made by an American, here in the USA! this no mass-produced product; it seems solidly (and lovingly) constructed just for me. my communication with BubbaSam regarding the assembly means that this thumper is a collaboration of him and myself, and i know that no matter where i look, nothing will be the same as my thumper.

She ended up with a sprained wrist, but breaking her BubbaStik was what she was most upset about. For example, the instructions I gave him in making my Stik weren't exactly clear, so he phoned me so that I could more clearly explain to him exactly what I wanted. During our conversation he suggested an accessory that he thought might look better than what I originally had requested...and he was right...so I went with his idea. And his suggestion saved me a few bucks!

It's little things like this that creates return customers.

I received my order yesterday, Thursday the 8th. I have noticed that when I use it my walking changes for the better. I believe it's the grip angle. I normally use a 4 point cane and step forward with my left then step up to my left foot with my right now I'm noticing I'm having a tendency to step through with my right. I wish I had had this cane while I was in therapy as it weighs a lot less than what I've had to use in the past. And finally I love the feeling that if needed I could defend myself with it.

My mother bought me my first "Stik" several years ago when the cheap medical ones I was using kept breaking. She ran across one at a truck stop in Indio California and bought one for her husband and he was so impressed with it that when I busted my leg all to pieces she bought me one too. I have used several canes since my accident but the only one I trust to hold me up in any condition is my "Stik"! I love the quality and they withstand anything that I have thrown at it. I would still be using the one that my mother got for me but when I moved to Anchorage some lowlife piece of garbage stole it from me while my back was turned at a urinal! That was probably too much information, but I just wanted to let you know how big a role your "Stik's" have in my whole family's life. You can bet your last dollar that, God forbid, anything ever happens to my children the cane they will all be using will be one of yours!

I order my second one once my knee healed and no longer needed my stik for my knee. I still continue to carry my stik wherever I go. I love their product! It won't be the last one that I order... and guys if you get hooked on carrying a walking stik and your wife asked why you need more than one... just ask her why she needs more than one handbag. lol

I decided it was time to order a walking stick--mostly because I think I should be too young for a cane:) . After looking around online, I found the BubbaStik, but I did not want the "Bubba Stik" burned into it. I have issues advertising other people's products, and I think it takes away from the looks. I found BubbaSam's site and the StepinStik. StepinStik does not have any names burned into it. I found the site was pretty simple and it walked me through all the steps to place my custom order.

So, a little about me: I am generally an impatient perfectionist--yeah, its a curse. Well, my new StepinStik arrived in just a couple days (I didn't even have time to be impatient). It was packed perfectly in a strong cardboard tube with the right bubble wrap in the right spots. Apparently BubbaSam has done this before! I was really excited to unwrap it and try it out. It was the perfect look, feel, and fit. While sitting there admiring it, I found a small flaw on the handle. I then looked at the reviews on Amazon and found a few negatives--don't even pay any attention to the Amazon reviews, they are not for BubbaSam--I will explain momentarily.

I fired off a rude email to Sam, who immediately replied very pleasantly with his apologies and offered to take care of everything to my satisfaction. I re-read my rude email, and I realized how inappropriate I had been. We emailed each other a few more times, and I feel as though I have learned some things about Sam. He is a good guy who really cares about his product, his customers, and people in general. Not only has he taken care of my product, but he threw in some extras to make up for any inconvenience it may have caused me--more than circumstances dictated.

In retrospect, I feel like I ripped him off! I got a great product, at a great price, and I should never have even complained in the first place. In either case, I now have much more than just a really nice looking functional, and well made "Stik", I have a good experience to remember (for as long as my memory holds out). I feel like I have made a friend with a true American (a Vet no less), who cares about quality and craftsmanship.

As for the BubbaStiks, it turns out Sam orders only the wooden shaft with the burned in logo from the original manufacturer in Texas and provides all the rest of the products himself. These are not the same products that you may see advertized on Amazon, and they are NOT the same product you may see in a truck stop.

So, if you are trying to decide if you should make a purchase, just DO IT! You won't regret it...and if you even THINK you'll regret it later, Sam will take good care of you--he's a good guy.

We love our Stiks! (I also have a "normal" BubbaStik.) We love these, and as we travel with wheelchair help, I can assure you that these sticks are well received world wide! (Or at least, in Europe.) I can tell you that you have a marvelous product, and we love them. ( I am 5'9", and weigh 260. These are easy to cut down for me with a miter saw.)

The better part of my story is about the over-the-top customer first-class service I've received from BubbaSam. The first stick I ordered was badly damaged in transit and arrived in a devastated state. BubbaSam looked at the evidence and provided me with a new stick while we worked out things with the USPS regarding the damages. More than once he has chosen to err on the side of taking care of the customer. You can buy products anywhere but you have to have some luck to do business with a top class, honorable merchant like BubbaSam! He's earned a repeat customer out me.

In fact, after I submit this message, I'm going to start thinking about a stick for the holidays! My wife says I'm developing an obsession with the walking sticks. I say I'm embracing a lifestyle of elegance and high style beginning with my cane from BubbaStik.com.

In 2002 I got into a pretty bad car accident which left me with a back that was broken in 3 places. A friend of mine bought me a few gag gift canes with mirrors on the bottoms to be funny and a BubbaStik. I thought the BubbaStik was a gag as well until I started using it and realized this cane was going to be a part of my daily routine for at least the next 2 years. I am happy that during my recovery process that it worked to support me and that it looked cool and not an old mans cane. I still have it today saved and to the side should I ever need it again.

It is interesting how an item purchased for its novelty has become an instrument of necessity.

I sincerely appreciate you hard work and alacrity in getting the cane to me. I got it in the mail early yesterday afternoon and opened it up as soon as I got home. I inspected it carefully and walked around with it a while.

You can FEEL the weight of the brass in the handle with how the balance of the cane is and it is truly a work of art. You have this gentleman's eternal appreciation for this fine piece of craftsmanship and I do plan on ordering more at some point. I only wish that the formal walker went to 38" because I'm 6'5" and the 38" I chose for my BubbaStik is an absolutely PERFECT height.

Living in a country that idolizes West Coach culture, I was thrilled to finally come across my first BubbaStiks for sale in a truck stop and snapped one up on the return trip. They really do speak to the Southerner in all of us, I think; beauty in the simplicity. Brass and walnut, matches the hilt of my Bowie knife. It wasn't until later that I realized I'd purchased one of the smaller Lady Bubbas, but it was the one which caught my eye and was of the appropriate height for big city life, here just outside of Birmingham - LOL. I appreciate your product very much and don't see any reason not to give it 5 Stars, it was exactly what I never realized I was always looking for! Thanks much, really!

I am newly disabled after a year long hospitalization, in which I became completely paralyzed. I've spent the last two years teaching myself how to walk again. In the last 6 months I graduated from a walker to the cane. This was both an amazing feeling, and a huge disappointment. I am 32 years old, and I found the options available to be hideous… until I came across your site. I wanted something special, something unique. I was first impressed at the care given to the protection of the Stik in the shipping tube and once unwrapped…there it was…my shiny brass and mahogany beauty. My wife was even impressed. The order was placed follow by an e-mail with a couple of questions about parts for my old BubbaStik.  Within the hour I had a reply so I replied with extra funds to order extra parts.  Again within the hour I received a reply stating my order would be shipped out tomorrow on Saturday and I should have them on Tuesday or Wednesday.  I really was not looking for it until the following week. My order arrived with Monday's mail.  That was fast service. AAAAA for service. 

When I opened my package, if a first impression are lasting impression, I took out pure raw beauty.  An absolutely gorgeous BubbaStaf.  I love it.  I took it to work everyone else loved it too.  One woman said she would sit her father down and order him one for his birthday.   My wife and I go ballroom dancing.  Now when we go dancing I can go with a little more class and style.  Once again my new BubbaStaf far exceeded my expectation.  I love it.  AAAAA for product.

From a practical standpoint it's sturdy, the wood finish is beautiful, it's easy on my hand (arthritis makes holding a traditional cane handle difficult, the ball style depends less on strength in my fingers)and the strap is practical (I don't drop my cane when opening a door).

The thing that makes my cane awesome is how it looks! Who would think of a cane as a conversation starter? Wherever I go I get comments and compliments. The brass handle is so unique, at least it seems like few in the Chicago are have ever seen a hame topped walking stick. That it is customizable with my initials makes it special (It was a gift from my wife).

I did have a problem with my first strap but a quick response from BubbaSam, the friendly guy who makes these stiks, resolved the issue in short order. Thanks Sam. The leather strap looks pretty classy!

Even if my hip issues are able to be resolved I'll still be carrying my BubbaStik as a fashion accessory.

Your product is superb and sometimes a gift becomes a lifesaver.

The BubbaStik is awesome! It is so beautiful and stylish that I am not embarrassed to use it in public. It gives me the complete feeling of stability with its solid weight and construction. My name is burned into the wood which is really terrific looking too.

I found my BUBBASTIK at a nearby Loves travel store and had to get one. It's a great improvement in anything else that I've used. The handle is much more comfortable than any other that I've used, and doesn't aggravate my arthritis or my corporal tunnel. After trimming it down a bit, it fits me just like a glove and is now my constant companion.

If I could I'd have to rate it as "5 Star, PLUS".

I found my BubbaStik in Tombstone and the vendor cut it to fit. Perfect from the first use! Not only is it very comfortable from the outset, I found that I can vary how I hold it, still put some real weight on it and my hand is no worse for the wear. Sometimes it seems to massage the right parts of my hand and actually makes it feel better. Even after surgery on the hand I was able to use it just a few days after the stitches came out.

I am sorry for those who have had theirs lifted; though I don't thing that will happen to me. Once it is in my hand, I rarely let go of it. When I do it is in sight or stowed in my belt. Perhaps I will invent the BubbaStik belt ring, clip, scabbard or whatever works.

For me, BubbaStik has been liberating. I wouldn't leave home without it. Thanks!

I am not surprised that you remember my last order. I sent it back to you to have the medallions placed differently. Yes, the Stik did go to SE Asia. What I did not tell you is that it went to a young man (47) whos name I can't mention. He had been ill with heart trouble and diabetes for several years. He was one of the wealthiest people in the world. His net worth was about $1T (yes, trillion). The BubbaStik was his constant companion and just loved it. He even used it to get in and out of bed. The BubbaStik went with him on his last trip to China this past June. Sadly he was murdered overseas and died in July. His aunt has just returned to New Mexico brought the BubbaStik back for me. You never know where your BubbaStiks will end up, do you?

I would suggest to anyone ordering a Bubbastik to check out the Bubba Sessories as they add quite a flair to an already beautiful product, and don't forget to include your intials on the handle.

The Bubbastik is a great product by itself, however another aspect that has sold me on Bubbastik is the great customer service that I have received from Steve Winters, and BubbaSam. No matter how great the product you have to have the people who stand behind their product.

Last week. I left it 'leaned' up against the gas pump while filling up My car with fuel. I didn't think about it until about thirty minutes later, and rushed back, but some "Rat-Bastard" had taken it.

I was 'devestated', and My Wife suggested that I look on the internet to try to locate one - And sure enough, I found Your web-site!! I quickly ordered another one, and look forward to getting it next weeek.

My name is Patrick and I am 42. I have both knees tore up and just got my BubbaStik in the mail today. I have to say it's great! The cut length is perfect and it's very snappy looking as well. Let's see how long I keep this one before it disappears. The last one I had was gone out of my cart when I stepped into a changing room to try on some jeans. I guess it just shows how much people love your BubbaStiks.

BubbaSam emailed me on Dec 27th that my stick had shipped on Dec 26th and that the USPO would send me tracking info and such. The stick arrived on Dec 30th (woohoo!)and then on Jan 1st (today) I get an email from the USPO telling me that the stick had shipped on the 26th!! Just for giggles I clicked on the tracking link and it said that it had been delivered on the 30th. So two days after I received the BubbaStik the Post Office decides to email me and let me know that it was sent! It's amazing that our government even functions at times!

Nearly all canes cause a person to stoop over when using them which is simply ridiculous......but the BubbaStik is ingenius and so practical !!! 1) I can put my BubbaStik in front of me when getting up from a low chair, put all of my weight on it, and get up with ease. 2) When I hurt my knee 3 years ago I used my BubbaStik to help me lift and/or position my leg effortlessly as well as walk upright. 3) I use my BubbaStik for extra support when I climb up or down stairs. 4) I use my BubbaStik for extra support when I get in or out of the car. 5) My BubbaStik was a lifesaver on a recent Amtrak trip as getting into or out of the railway car required a "giant step" up and down. 6) because most of my weight is in my stomach, being able to walk upright with my BubbaStik when my back is hurting is a huge blessing ! 7) I also use my BubbaStik for stability when getting into or out of the shower by holding onto the tub's safety bar and leaning on my BubbaStik which is on dry the bathroom floor. 8) and, of course, my BubbaStik is my ever ready LEGAL "body guard"

I received an email from Steve letting me know he was looking into getting such a medallion. A month or so went by with me expecting to get an email with him stating "I have a medallion now, go ahead and place your order". Instead I received a package at my door. It turns out that you truly do get a free BubbaStik when you make a suggestion which is incorporated!

These days I find I need a good walking stick.

I have had a few different sticks, picked up here and there. One or two are alright but most just don't hold up. I am a big man and I use my sticks alot.

I stumbled across the Bubbastik website a few weeks ago and read through it. I liked what I saw. I read some of the testimonials and liked what others where saying. I took some time to do research outside of the Bubbastik website and found that all the feedback available was positive.

I decided to place an order. I am a Texas Free Mason and I wanted a medallion to reflect the pride I feel for my fraternity. I was able to contact Steve at Bubbastik and although there were no Masonic emblems currently available he made it happen. I am very happy to say that I have the very first "Masonic Bubbastik."

When I recieved my Bubbastik I was impressed by the beauty of the object and by the obviouos craftmanship that went into its creation. The following day I took it to work with me and happily recieved several complements on it.

I was stunned by the uncommon, even extraordinary, service I recieved from the good people at Bubbastik. It is unusual these days to ever recieve more than a terse email in response to questions from most companies. There were no terse emails from Bubbastik. When Jay reached Mission, he returned to Del Rio for two days for the annual Fiesta Amistad with Acuna, our sister city across the Rio Grande - and 'Bubba' came, too. Jay attended two events that evening and somewhere he accidentally left 'Bubba' behind - - the next morning we made frantic phone calls that produced no results. We then called every 'western' shop in Fort Worth, etc., to no avail. A quick perusal of eBay found a seller, who was willing to sell us one and ship it to a friend of Jay's in the Valley so he could pick it up before he reached Brownsville, but the shipping cost was prohibitive, so he finished the 205 miles using a British 'walking stick.'

Later, we were able to reach Steve online to see where we could purchase one or if he could ship us a replacement; he immediately told us where Jay could purchase one that day as he was on another 'walk' near Abilene where one of the truck stops was located. So, I called his 'sag wagon' driver and told him where to pick one up.

Then, Steve called me - - what a great guy! Not only did he want to ship one to Jay after reading about him and his 'mission,' but he also wanted to engrave his initials for him as a 'thank you' for being a genuinely good guy!

If a BubbaStik can be described as being 'gorgeous,' it is!!

Today Jay leaves for another walk to protest the incarceration of 'so-called illegal immigrants' in three different facilities in the Valley and with him goes his very 'personal' BubbaStik. Once again, the world will see that guy in the funny, big straw hat, wearing the blue shirt, walking along the edge of the highway using his BubbaStik to maintain balance as his right foot is always going 'downhill' along the shoulder, while the left goes the opposite direction uphill!

Steve, thanks for being another of the genuine 'good guys' of the world!

We migrated from Pennsylvania where we were born & raised with the Amish. They are great craftsmen & really terrific people to know. He walks with it and since neighborhood dogs sometimes come around he is of course better equipped to fend off unwanted visits if necessary. The island also boasts of a good population of black bears. I'm glad he has the Original BubbaStik in hand when he's out a walkin!
